Het lijkt alweer een eeuwigheid geleden dat actrice/zangeres/componiste Tine Reymer furore maakte met Flowers For Breakfast, het heerlijke Antwerpse popgroepje voor fijnproevers waarin ze samen met vriend/collega Tom Pintens de lakens uitdeelde. Flowers For Breakfast bracht 2 eigenzinnige albums uit (“Baron Samedi Conducts The Onion Philharmonique” in 1996 en “Homebound” in 1998) en kreeg een bescheiden tournee door Europa voor elkaar (toen nog niet zo alledaags voor een Belgische band). Intussen timmerde Tine gestaag verder aan haar acteercarrière, met opgemerkte rollen in films en tv-series allerhande (Recht Op recht, Shades, Sedes en Belli, Team Spirit, …)
Flowers For Breakfast doofde stilletjes uit, tot ontzetting van de fans. De groepsleden gingen elk hun eigen weg en belandden bij Moondog Jr., Zita Swoon, Think Of One, El Tattoo Del Tigre, Sukilove,, 2000 Monkeys, Flat Earth Society en nog een handvol andere projecten en bands. Tine ging zich fulltime toeleggen op film, tv en theater.
Toch kon ze nooit echt afscheid nemen van de muziek. Ze stond de afgelopen jaren regelmatig in glam-outfit op het podium bij mambo bigband El Tattoo del Tigre en haar stem was te horen op platen van De Mens en 2000 Monkeys. Het bloed kruipt nu eenmaal waar het niet gaan kan: Tine is weer helemaal terug bij haar oude liefde, de popmuziek. Ze schreef een reeks subtiele popsongs bij elkaar, zocht verwoed naar een volledig vrouwelijke begeleidingsband (geen sinecure) en kreeg vriend en ex-collega Tom Pintens zover dat hij haar solodebuut wilde producen.
Intussen zette ze ook nog even een wolk van een dochter op de wereld, wat het hele opnameproces niet bepaald versnelde, maar first things first.
Het gebeurt niet elke dag dat 5 dames die elkaar van haar noch pluim kennen samen een paar weken het repetitiekot induiken om een gloednieuwe live-set van een gloednieuwe popgroep in te studeren. Maar geloof ons: Billie King is klaar om gehoord en gezien te worden en overtreft de verwachtingen.
Subtiel gearrangeerde, veelal intimistische popliedjes, hier en daar een potige rockgitaar en bovenal de hemelse stem van ons Tine (wat hebben we die lang moeten missen).

It’s been like forever since Tine Reymer – actress, singer and composer – brought down the house with Flowers For Breakfast. Together with Tom Pintens, friend and colleague, she ran the show. This divine rock band with its roots in Antwerp released 2 peculiar albums (“Baron Samedi Conducts The Onion Philharmonique” in 1996 and “Homebound” in 1998) and went on a small tour, not so common for a Belgian band.
Meanwhile Tine steadily built her acting career and played some remarkable parts in several movies and TV series such as Recht Op recht, Shades, Sedes en Belli, Team Spirit, …
To great dismay of the fans, Flowers For Breakfast slowly smothered. The band members each went their own way and ended up joining several other bands and projects such as Moondog Jr., Zita Swoon, Think Of One, El Tattoo Del Tigre, Sukilove,, 2000 Monkeys, Flat Earth Society and many more. Tine buckled down to acting; film as well as TV and theater.
However Tine never really managed to say goodbye to the music industry. These last few years she glamorously ended up on stage with mambo bigband El Tattoo del Tigre and she made some records together with De Mens en 2000 Monkeys. But breeding will out, Tine and her true love are now reunited. She wrote some songs, made frantic efforts to find a female accompaniment and managed to trap her friend and ex-colleague Tom Pintens into producing her debut album.
Meanwhile she also gave birth to a bouncing baby girl which didn’t really speed up the whole recording process but … first things first.
It’s not every day that 5 ladies who barely know each other start rehearsing to bring you a brand new live performance. But believe you me, Billie King is ready to be heard and seen and will surpass all expectations: subtle ,intimate songs, every now and then some loud guitar music, and a voice from heaven ( and did we miss this heavenly voice!).
